WHAT WE DO
The fastest way to understand what we do is to
watch us do it on your own footage.
Fifteen minutes, on the system you already have.

We give confidence by using AI-powered surveillance, backed by humans, to prevent incidents and deliver intelligence, assurance and action.
Ocular is American-owned and operated, and monitoring is handled by our own operators rather than outsourced. Accountability sits with us rather than a third party and for institutional and municipal buyers, it meets procurement requirements that outsourced monitoring often can’t.
Most security footage is only useful after an incident. The reason isn’t negligence — sustained attention across multiple screens is something people can’t do for long, no matter how well trained.
Founder and Chief Executive Officer
Ben started as a security officer and a volunteer search and rescue team member, then spent five years as a Software Development Manager building enterprise systems, and three more responsible for the training that taught a workforce of 16,000 to use them.
He has run security operations since 2020, growing a national franchise from one location to seven. He trusts what he has seen operate over what he has been told, and he has spent holidays in a patrol car rather than leave a site uncovered.
Founder and Vice President
A former U.S. Marine and overseas government security contractor, Joey built his career where disciplined execution and sound decision-making are mission-critical. Since 2015 he has led security operations across multiple states, building leadership teams and turning around challenged ones.
He brings the perspective of someone who has managed people, compliance and outcomes under real pressure, and the belief that technology should strengthen human capability rather than add complexity, which is the thinking behind how Ocular works.

Most flags never reach you at all. They’re cleared by an operator before your phone would have rung. See how that works on your own footage.

PLACEHOLDER — replace with a real customer quote. Two or three sentences works best at this size; the card is built for roughly this much copy.

Current detection types include firearm detection, fire detection, intrusion and perimeter violation, fence jumping, movement detection, after-hours access, facial recognition, known-person and trespasser recognition, emergency-services presence, and vehicle detection and tracking (including licence plate and vehicle type).
Each is enabled per camera, so you only get what’s relevant to that view. Some — firearms, fence jumping, perimeter violation, after-hours access, person recognition, emergency services — are treated as critical by default and escalate faster.
No. The processing unit needs to reach the cameras over the network, but they do not have to share a subnet.
Static addresses or DHCP reservations are recommended so streams stay reachable after a reboot.
Yes — a read-only stream account per camera is enough. Credentials stay on the local unit.
A single unit typically covers 16 to 32 streams depending on resolution, frame rate and which detections are enabled.
No. The unit makes an outbound connection only; no inbound ports need opening.
A standard business broadband line is sufficient. Only events and short clips leave the site, not continuous video.
Footage stays on your existing NVR or DVR. Ocular stores only the clips attached to verified events.
No. Detection runs locally and keeps working; events queue and sync once the connection returns.
Yes. Ocular reads standard RTSP and ONVIF streams, so it works alongside the recorder you already have.
